Sometimes Indulging Motivates You More

Since I am trying to lose weight before swimsuit season (like the majority of the population),  I have been saying no to the giant candy jar that sits on my desk… every day.  After the morning I had today,  I gave in.  I had Hershey’s Kisses and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.  I thought to myself, “oh just forget it.”  However,  I didn’t ruin a perfectly good diet day at all!

I currently use the iPhone application called Lose It.  It is a program that calculates what your daily calorie intake should be and helps you keep a log of your nutritional information.  Since I sometimes allow myself one piece of candy,  I had entered all the nutritional information in the application before.  With the quick thought that maybe my day was salvageable, I decided to enter the candy into Lose It.  Of course I had to increase the amount of candy (since I normally eat one),  and the result wasn’t bad at all!

It turns out, that even after the lunch I packed for today, and my little chocolate splurge… there is still room for a big healthy dinner tonight (without going over my weight loss calorie limit).  Naturally,  this makes my whole day a little bit brighter.  It makes me truly realize the fact that you do NOT have to deny your body everything it craves in order to stay on track.

That’s pretty motivating… at least to me!

I Thought it Went Well…

Monday night, I put the finishing touches on my first cake (for decorating purposes that is).  I was really proud, and can’t believe that I’ve got so many more lessons ahead that will make me great at this.

My first decorated cake!

The Secret to Life?

Enjoy it while you can ladies and gentleman! As I woke up this morning I was wondering what it is I wanted to share with you today, and this is it.  Since I graduated highschool (which was only 3 years ago) 6 of my friends and acquaintances have passed away.  Mostly from car accidents, but one was even more sudden than that this morning.  So I want to challenge you to enjoy your day (yes, even if you spilled your coffee on your way into the office this morning)!

I know that it’s a Friday, and most of you are stuck in between classes or on a quick break from work… but enjoy each day that God gives us to live, breathe, work, care for others, and celebrate life’s times and trials.

I hope that when I leave this world it is because I’ve lived a full life, and I have no unfinished business.  However, we aren’t guaranteed these circumstances. Can’t we try to live in a way that leaves  nothing unsaid or undone?

Introducing Ellie!

I’m sorry, I just had to share this with you. Nothing in the whole world makes me laugh as much as this little dog! I will say though, I do not normally torture her like this… but she definitely didn’t enjoy bath time today either.

Long story short, she survivied!

I Just Love These…

I just love our year round lights in the apartment, they remind me of just how happy and festive we can be… even when it’s not christmas!

Cake Decorating Class

For as long as I can remember, I have been amazed by the many wonderful creations that can be made from cake!  I fall asleep watching cake decorating contests and reading magazines full of ideas.  Last Monday night, as a spur of the moment plan, my grandmother and I joined a decorating class! I will definitely be posting pictures as I finish my preparations for class on Sunday.  When asked why I chose to attend the class last week, my answer was, “I already know how to make a cake taste great, but I want to know how to make it pretty!”  Ha! We’ll see if I can’t learn a few things! I’ll post a before and after picture as soon as possible, but until then, I don’t want any of you to see what my cakes look like.  If you want a tasting, now that is a whole other question!

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Well well well, I’ve managed to make it to Thursday (my day off until March)!  However, I’m pretty sure I haven’t completed 50% of the tasks that I should have by now.  For those of you who don’t know me, and for those that do but need an update… here it is! I’m a 21 year old college student attending Middle Tennessee State University.   Since I’m sure you’re all about to fall out of your chairs by my fascinating life, here’s the catch.  Not only am I a full-time student, the parent relations chair for my sorority, and an officer on on of our three greek councils. but I’m also an office manager at a local real estate company.

Now don’t get me wrong, I do believe that many people have way busier lives than I do!  However, I don’t think that many people get to both have a job like mine AND be a traditional student that is highly involved in greek life!

Here’s a question for the moment…

What’s wrong with this picture of my desk?

I do have more in store for later, but for now I should probably try to be a bit more productive!
